Sometimes a picture will not open, upload or attach because the format is wrong. An iPhone photo will not open in an older Windows app, a form wants a JPG, or a website asks for WebP. The Image Converter turns your image into another format so you can get on with what you were doing. Choose a file, pick the format you want and convert.
Using it costs nothing and you do not need an account.
| Format | What it is and where it is used |
|---|---|
| JPG and JFIF | The most common photo format. Opens almost everywhere, including email and forms. |
| PNG | Lossless and supports transparency. Good for screenshots, logos and graphics. |
| WebP | A web format that is often smaller than JPG. Common on websites. |
| AVIF | A newer web format that can be very small. Support is still growing. |
| HEIC | The default photo format on many iPhones. Not every Windows app can open it. |
| GIF | A simple format used for small graphics and short animations. |
| BMP and TIFF | Older, large formats used for scans, print and archives. |
| SVG | A vector format used for logos and icons that scale cleanly. |
| DNG | A raw camera format used by photographers for editing. |
| If you want to… | Choose | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Send a photo by email or upload it to a form | JPG | It opens almost everywhere. |
| Keep transparency for a logo or sticker | PNG or WebP | JPG cannot store transparency. |
| Keep screenshots sharp | PNG | PNG is lossless and keeps text crisp. |
| Make images lighter for a website | WebP | It is often smaller than JPG at similar quality. |
| Share an iPhone photo with a Windows user | JPG | Fewer apps can open HEIC. |
| Edit a photo later | PNG | Lossless means no extra quality loss when you save. |
Common Conversions Explained
HEIC is the default photo format on many iPhones, and some Windows apps, websites and forms cannot open it. Converting to JPG makes the photo easy to share. The JPG may be larger than the HEIC.
JPG is usually smaller than PNG for photos, which helps with uploads and email. JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas usually become a solid color.
PNG is lossless and keeps transparency, so it is handy when you plan to edit an image. Converting a JPG to PNG does not bring back detail the JPG already lost, and the file will often be larger.
WebP images from websites do not always open in older apps. Choose JPG for photos and PNG for graphics or anything with transparency.
WebP is often smaller than JPG, so converting can make a web page lighter. Check that the place you plan to use the image accepts WebP.
These formats are less widely supported than JPG. Converting to JPG makes them easier to open, share and upload.
DNG is a raw format meant for editing. A JPG is easier to share and view. Keep the DNG if you plan to edit the photo later.
Quality and File Size: What Really Happens
Some images have transparent areas, such as a logo with no background. JPG cannot store transparency, so converting to JPG usually fills those areas with a solid color, often white. If you need to keep the transparent background, convert to PNG or WebP instead.
If someone cannot open your iPhone photo, or a form refuses it, the format is usually the reason. Convert the HEIC photo to JPG, then attach or upload the JPG. Keep the original on your phone in case you want it later.
Smaller images help pages load faster. WebP is a popular choice for web images, JPG is the safe choice for photos and PNG is best for graphics that need sharp edges or transparency. Test your page after you change formats, and keep a JPG or PNG copy in case something does not display.

An image converter is an online tool that changes a picture from one file format to another, such as HEIC to JPG or PNG to WebP, so it works with the website, app or device you want to use it on.
Choose your image file, pick the format you want in the Convert To box, press Convert Images and save the result. If you are not happy with the output, try a different format.
The tool lists JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, SVG, HEIC, JFIF, DNG, BMP, TIFF and AVIF, and more. Check the format list in the converter for the latest options.
Choose your HEIC photo, select JPG in the Convert To box and press Convert Images. JPG opens almost everywhere, which makes it handy for Windows, email and online forms.
It depends on the formats. JPG and WebP can use lossy compression, so a converted photo may lose a little detail, and converting a file again and again makes it worse. PNG is lossless. Converting never adds back detail that is already gone, so keep your original file.
JPG does not support transparency. Transparent areas usually turn into a solid color, often white. If you need to keep transparency, use PNG or WebP.
Yes, it can go up or down. PNG files are often larger than JPG for photos, WebP is often smaller than JPG, and converting HEIC to JPG can make a file larger.
Choose JPG for photos that must open everywhere, PNG for screenshots, logos and anything with transparency, and WebP for websites where small files matter. Check that the place you plan to use the image accepts the format.
Choose one or more files in the file box, if your device lets you select several at once, and convert them. If a large batch is slow, convert fewer images at a time.
